MAT presents the Picobello "Verde" in a retro-modernist spirit
To celebrate the 20th anniversary of the watchmaking house he founded and continues to lead, Fabrice Pougez has marked the year 2024 with a bold statement, envisioning a completely revamped timepiece that embodies the essence of the brand’s values: the Picobello.
At MAT, the Picobello watch merges the best of its past with the promises of its future, encapsulating all the values the brand holds dear.
"The Picobello 'Verde' represents both a retro-modernist revival and a vision of uncompromising horology."
Picobello "Verde," a living symbol of retro-modernism
With its Grade 5 titanium case, green ceramic bezel, and 39.5 mm diameter, the Picobello "Verde" draws subtle inspiration from the automotive world and the racing designs of the 1960s and 70s.
For the first time, MAT introduces a Grade 5 titanium model equipped with a bidirectional green ceramic bezel featuring luminescent markings. The extreme lightness of the case subtly recalls the ultra-light aluminum chassis of racing cars from the 60s and 70s, combining advanced technical expertise with ergonomic comfort. Rather than overtly playing on automotive codes, the Picobello "Verde" deciphers them in its own, discreet way. Its highly legible, gradient green dial is enhanced by a cream-colored chapter ring. Changing shades depending on the light and time of day, the face of the Picobello "Verde" is never quite the same, yet always uniquely itself. In this way, the watch stands out for its stylistic versatility, reminiscent of British roadsters of the 60s and 70s adorned in "racing green." Here again, the automotive inspiration is subtle, appealing to "those in the know."
PICOBELLO TITANE GRADE 5
Powered by a Swiss mechanical movement (Soprod M100) with a skeletonized rotor visible through the transparent case back, the Picobello "Verde" is protected by a domed sapphire crystal with an anti-reflective coating. This model is an authentic exclusive, limited to just 100 pieces. It comes with two interchangeable straps—one in khaki green canvas and the other in light beige leather. The latter, a playful nod to the upholstery of 60s automobiles, will develop a patina over time, showing that the Picobello is a living, enduring watch grounded in reality.
